    M&S Engagement - 016

Matthew and Sarah are an extraordinarily fun couple who I’ve met through friends.  I’m delighted to get an opportunity to not only photograph their engagement, but be chosen to photograph their special day.  For their engagement session, we utilized NDSU’s campus gardens, the beautiful grounds at St. Mary’s Cathedral, and caught a perfect sunset along the Red River in Fargo at Dike West.  It as truly a fantastic day, and I look forward to photographing their wedding next spring!

Ryan was referred to me by a classmate of his from Fergus Falls.  His mother contacted me a week before his yearbook deadline…and thankfully we were able to accomidate him.

Ryan is a downhill skier, and rollerblader, and brought with him a rather limited, but functional wardrobe.  We started in studio before moving outdoors, and finished at the dike west skatepark.  Thankfully we had a little time before he needed to leave for work and were able to go through the shots from the shoot, selected a good portrait of him for his yearbook, and was able to edit and send it home with him to hit his deadline.

Amanda and Dustin were married at the beautifull and historic First United Methodist Church in Fargo, ND.   I love the older spaces in and around downtown Fargo, and First United Methodist is an exceptional space to work with.

After the ceremony, Amanda & Dustin headed to an intimate recpetion with family and friends at O’Kelly’s in Fargo.

Allison was a fantastic senior to work with, and my first senior of the 2012 season.  We spent most of our time downtown, working with the unique Chicago style brick  buildings that give Fargo such unique character and charm.

It was a fantastic day to shoot.  A bit on the warm side, but a beautiful clear sky with some great light to work with.

Sara and Josh are the third couple I’ve had the honor of photographing at the gorgeous Ramada in Fargo.  They are the second wedding that I’ve shot where both the ceremony and reception were held at the Hotel.
We snuck away briefly to make the most of a wonderfull summer day, and took some excellent shots overlooking a man-made lake in West Fargo ND.

My second shoot with Hadley we had an outstanding outdoor session on a beautiful mid-June day.  We caught some gorgeous light in a local playground just off of downtown Fargo.

Tully is what I would call a neo-classical rock star.  Dylan, The Kinks…these are her inspirations.  We shot downtown, and tried to invoke both a bit of classical 70’s rock stars, and a little bit classic Hollywood with my main inspiration being the classic photography of James Dean as photographed by Dennis Stock, while remaining contemporary, and a little bit edgy.    I really like what we captured.

We stuck to the back alleys and side streets downtown, working the urban environment up to the fullest advantage.  I normally don’t do mid-day shoots, and much prefer early morning or late evening shoots to make the most of our light.  But time was tight and we were able to make the most of a nice June afternoon.

I went to high school with both Sarah and Justin, and actually knew Sarah very well.  I was so very happy to hear about her Engagement to Justin, and jumped at the chance to photograph their wedding.  Justin was working as an actor at a theater in Tennesee, and only had a few days off to come up and shoot before their wedding in July.

We had a great session downtown, right during the golden hour with a fantastic clear sky and beautifull lighting.  We worked till dusk and then finished up after dark in the studio.

Hadley is a bit of a return customer.  I photographed her parents wedding two years ago, a lovely ceremony in a beautifull church in Fergus Falls.  We’ll be shooting her first full year as part of our “Year One” package.

Craig and Amy Wedding Photography Fargo

I waited a good week to write this one, because when you shoot a wedding, the perception of a situation becomes grossly distorted from it’s reality.

For instance, I though I had completly bungled the shoot.

I’m a pro, I can admit that I had a bad day, and after all that’s what this blog is for. I want my clients to understand my approach. And bad days are better judges of character then good days.

At the time, I thought I COMPLETLY bungled the wedding. There were a number of distractions during the day which were really fraying my nerves.

    1. My car was giving me issues. We had gotten freezing rain the night before, and for some odd reason, my car door WOULD NOT STAY closed. So I had to drive to the locations HOLDING it shut myself.

Which is not good. Not good at all.
